Pompon bear rocker - Vilac (V9104)
With his small portable workbench, the sculptor François Pompon (1855-1933) liked to walk in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. There he was able to watch the animals, and mold small sketches. Back in his studio, he sculpted bears, panthers, but also dogs, chickens and rabbits, simplifying the shapes to find the nature of each animal. Thus, under the visitor's eyes of the Orsay Museum, where a large number of these sculptures are kept, the animals come to life! His sculptures have been re-interpreted by the artist Gérard Lo Monaco, and in cooperation with the RMN and the Musée d'Orsay, Vilac pays homage to this brilliant artist by making this magnificent range of wooden toys.
Dimensions of the rocker 75 x 42 x 28 cm.
Recommended for ages 18 months & up.
